Inaugural Post Draft/Preseason Power Rankings!
After an Odyssey of a draft, we have finally made it to our first write-up of the season!
Before we kick off the inaugural Breakfast of Champions season, I wanted to do a quick post-draft blurb on every team/manager in the league. Hopefully some of you enjoy reading this, and maybe it’ll help everyone feel a little more connected to the other guys in here before we spend the next five months rooting for each other's downfall.
To be clear: everyone's team right now is generally pretty equal in value, and I genuinely think everyone had a great draft. These rankings are purely my opinion and are meant to only sort of piss some of you off.
So let the shit-talking commence, don't take the rankings too seriously, and please remember anything mean I say about your team is objective fact.
Starting at 14 and working our way down to #1!
14. Hank
Coming in dead last, we have none other than the commish himself: me.
I'm not even trying to be humble here, this roster is just not going to score a lot of points in Year 1. Gonna be honest, my strategy going into the draft was not to draft the entirety of the '26 rookie class, but alas, here we are.
At an average age of 24.3, I have the youngest team in the league, and on top of that, I've already sustained injuries to three of my cornerstone players: Tyson, Love, and LaPorta. Sources close to the situation say I'm already looking forward to the 2027 rookie draft, in true dynasty freak fashion.
Don’t sleep too much though…with JD5, Jeremiyah Love, and my 2027 1st round pick as my cornerstones, this team WILL be good someday… Can’t wait to win my first chip in 2030.
You all know me, so I don’t wanna spend any more time on myself. Moving on!
13. Jacob
At #13 we have Chicago diehard Jacob.
I think Jacob will understand this ranking because, despite putting him this low, he actually has one of my favorite rosters in the league. There's a ton of young upside here, and of course he took his man Caleb Williams in the 1st.
With that said, Jayden Higgins tore his ACL the other day, and I'm just not convinced this is a roster that's going to seriously compete in Year 1.
Player to watch: Jonathan Brooks. Coming off two ACL tears, his future is definitely in question - but if he can get healthy, the upside is still massive.
Also, shoutout to Jacob for somehow having access to my draft queue and sniping basically everyone I wanted in rounds 15–20.
This team might be annoying as hell in two years, but for now, enjoy lucky #13!
12. Fred
Coming in at #12 is my man Fred.
Fred is not going to like this ranking, so consider this his official opportunity to make me look like an idiot.
Punting QB in a Superflex league is certainly a strategy. Its a bold strategy cotton, we’ll see how it works out for him. There is a benefit to it though-
In his defense, Fred has one of the strongest RB rooms in the league (I will produce NO Chase Brown slander in here), and some really nice depth at WR and TE. He's also a savvy manager who I play with in multiple other dynasty leagues, so I have no doubt this roster will eventually turn into something scary.
Maybe I'm just bitter because he sniped Ashton Jeanty one pick before I was going to take him. Not that I'm holding a grudge or anything, I’m completely over it.
Will I eat my words? Prove me wrong Fred!
11. Cameron
Coming in at #11 is our first West Coast manager of the rankings: Cameron, aka commander Sandy Nic.
I actually really like a lot of this roster. Starting with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker on his shiny new team, I have to admit I'm a little jealous I don't have him myself. CeeDee and JJ anchoring your WR room is obviously fantastic too.
But the reason I have to put you here is pretty simple: that QB room.
Look, I am a dues paying member of the Sam Darnold Fan Club, but if he's your QB1, you might find yourself in some trouble Year 1.
I do love Mendoza, though, and surely he'll take over for the corpse of Kirk Cousins sometime in the first half of the season. He’s looked really good in preseason.
I'll concede that I could very easily eat my words here if Mendoza balls out and KW stays healthy. For now, though, #11 feels right.
Sorry, Sandy Nic.
10. Graham
At the 10 spot we have Graham the Man Kozak.
With JSN and Jonathan Taylor as your cornerstones, you have to be thrilled. I also don't mind Bo Nix and Stafford as your QBs at all, they're going to score a shit ton of points in this league. (6 pts per passing TD)
The TE room leaves something to be desired, but hey, if every position group were good, I wouldn't have anything to write about.
This feels like one of those rosters that doesn't immediately jump off the page but is going to be a pain in the ass to play. There's enough production here to compete right away, and enough flexibility to improve as the season goes on.
I wish I had more to say here, but Graham you had a solid draft. Annoyingly nothing to pick on… I’ll get you next time.
9. Nick
At #9 we have Nick.
I honestly love this roster and think it could be sneaky good in Year 1.
Drake Maye is the big question mark: was last year a fluke, or is he actually the next Josh Allen? We shall find out.
And if Maye doesn't work out, no worries…Nick has...
checks notes
Deshaun Watson to save the day.
Jesus Christ, not this guy again. Are we even sure hes better than Shedeur?
Nick famously sat next to Shedeur on a flight a couple months ago, so maybe he got the inside scoop. Ill give you the benefit of the doubt.
I also have to point out the RB room, where RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman get to fight to the death for touches not only in real life, but now on Nick's fantasy team as well. Beautiful roster construction.
All jokes aside, there's a lot to like here. If Maye is actually that guy again, #9 could end up looking silly pretty quickly.
8. Spencer
Coming in at #8 is another West Coast commander, Spencer, aka Tiny Meat Gang.
I kind of love this roster, but I have to admit: it's going to require a lot of internal growth to seriously compete this season.
If that happens, though, this team could get scary very quickly.
We already know what Ja'Marr Chase does. Perennial #1 overall player. But Breece, Drake London, CJ Stroud, Jordan Love, and BTJ are all going to need to take another step, or at least play closer to the ceiling we know they have- for this team to really work.
I will say this, my darkhorse WR1 overall player is Drake London. I think hes a beast, and as long as Tua doesn’t literally die out there, London is gonna catch a ton of passes. There is no reason he can’t reach the same tier as ARSB, JJ, JSN, etc..
The nice thing is that even if it doesn't all come together immediately, this is an extremely balanced roster that should be in the mix for years.
And, of course, a special shoutout to our hometown hero Jake Browning, who I'm sure will be absolutely critical to this team's success.
7. Vance
At #7 we have Vance, otherwise known as commander Varms.
I LOVE Vance's roster and, frankly, sort of wish it was mine.
There's a really nice mix of young upside here while still having guys who can put up serious fantasy production immediately. It's anchored by the best TE in football, Brock Bowers, who in a TEP league is basically a government-sanctioned cheat code.
Then you've got some really exciting young pieces in Dart and TMac who I think will take big steps this year. I had a joke written here about Jaxson Dart's recent public-speaking engagements introducing a certain individual, but I've been informed that Breakfast of Champions is not a political organization. I'll just say this: interesting offseason, Jaxson!
BOC Dynasty respects the separation of fantasy football and state.
All jokes aside, I actually love Dart from a football perspective and think he's a dog. Will the New York Giants finally not be ass? Only time will tell.
I think this team has a very real shot at making the playoffs in Year 1. And even if it doesn't, this feels like one of those teams that's going to be terrifying to play on a random week when every young guy decides to go off simultaneously. Vance was quoted in the chat (where we take everything literally, ofc) saying “My team young af, yall are cooked”.
The future is bright for Varms.
6. Jake Carter
Alright fellas... the top six is where shit gets serious.
At #6 I'm going with the newly wed Jake Carter (Congrats Jake!)
With Josh Allen at the helm, this team is basically guaranteed to be a perennial playoff threat as long as that gigantic freak of nature continues playing football.
Then you add Nico, Ladd, Tyler Warren, and a solid group of RBs, and this is going to be a very good team from Day 1.
Player to watch: Ladd McConkey.
I think Ladd has the potential to be this year's JSN. Bold take yes, but hes on a high powered offense with a new coach and coming off a down year. If he takes that leap and becomes a legitimate top-10 fantasy WR, we're suddenly looking at a team that could very easily make a run at the championship in Year 1.
Josh Allen gives you such a ridiculous floor in this format that you really don't need everything else to hit.
Between getting married and landing Josh Allen, Jake has apparently decided 2026 is the year he locks down his franchise cornerstones. Good on you Mr. Carter!
5. Sean
At #5 I'm going Sean.
This team is incredibly balanced. Having a top-10 caliber guy at basically every position is a true luxury, and there's really no glaring weakness here.
Trey McBride in TEP is a cheat code, and I think the Jalen/Saquon stack is especially interesting. You're basically just praying the Eagles score 40 every week, which, honestly, isn't the worst strategy.
Every team in this tier has a legitimate chance to win the championship in Season 1, and Sean is no exception. If Saquon and Amon-Ra stay healthy, this team is going to score a shitload of points.
Not much else to say, this is a very good team. Going to be good this year, going to be good in 3 years. Boringly responsible draft. I hate it.
HOWEVER...
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that during the startup, I managed to acquire Sean's 2027 2nd-round pick.
So Sean, just know that while you're busy trying to win championships, I'll be sitting comfortably at #14, monitoring your every loss and praying I can turn that pick into the 2.01. The rich get richer?
4. Coleman
Next up is our friendly neighborhood lawyer and league counsel, Coleman.
Coleman is ALL IN this season, and he's looking to cash in immediately.
Dak, Mahomes, McCaffrey, and Mixon would have been the most disgusting fantasy lineup imaginable in 2020.
Unfortunately, it is currently 2026.
But Coleman did a great job hedging the nursing home by taking arguably the best dynasty asset in fantasy in the 1st round: Puka Nacua. Then he adds DeVonta Smith - is he this year's JSN? - and suddenly this roster starts looking extremely scary.
And jokes aside, the old guys aren't just old guys. They're still really fucking good at football.
I would go as far as saying this might be the favorite to win the whole thing this season. If McCaffrey stays healthy and the veterans don't fall off a cliff, I don't know how many teams are going to outscore this roster.
The age and injury risk is the only reason I can't put Coleman any higher...For now.
3. Conner
Alright guys, we've officially entered my top 3, which means these are objectively the three best teams in the league. No debate…
Coming in at #3 is Conner - not to be confused with his brother Cameron, who you may remember from approximately 45 minutes ago when you were reading the #11 spot.
Conner put together a really strong draft that sets him up not only to contend this season, but for sustained success going forward.
Lamar and Nabers as your first two picks come with a little injury risk, but if both stay healthy, it's hard to imagine a better 1–2 punch in the league. Egbuka has a chance to establish himself as a serious WR1 with Mike Evans departure, and as long as Kittle's Achilles doesn't act up (I'm looking at you, substation), he should be staring down the barrel of another top-5 finish at TE.
Then you've got some fun wild cards in Malik Willis and Kansas City camp darling Cyrus Allen. If one of those upside swings hit, this roster gets even scarier.
Unfortunately pretty hard for me to make fun of. Really good draft!
#3 feels right.
2. Nate
Coming in at our penultimate spot, I'm going with my man Nate Jones, AKA Bobby Bones, AKA gayefordrakemaye.
After shocking the league, and frankly betraying his entire brand, by not taking his namesake in Round 1, I think Nate pulled together about as textbook of a dynasty draft as you can have.
It's probably no coincidence that our top two teams boast the top two RBs in fantasy, and Nate has Gibbs. But he didn't stop there. James Cook is primed for another top-5 RB finish, Pickens is a beast, and Purdy + Goff are going to absolutely eat in this format. (did I mention 6pt Passing TD’s…)
The only position that leaves a little to be desired is TE, but when you're getting this much production everywhere else, you can afford to have one room that isn't loaded.
This roster has basically everything I want in dynasty: elite production right now, guys still in their primes, stability at QB, and enough upside that the team isn't going to suddenly turn into a dumpster fire in two years.
But none of that matters….
The real question surrounding this franchise is:
How many weeks until gayefordrakemaye trades for Drake Maye?
And if the answer is never...
Does he have to change his name?
These are the difficult questions we must confront as a league.
1. Julian
And finally...
After hours upon hours of drafting, countless snipes, questionable reaches, a single trade, injuries, and approximately 600 rookies being selected by yours truly...
We have arrived at mypreseason #1: Julian Lee.
I genuinely don't know how Julian managed to build a roster this balanced while also walking away with Bijan AND Hampton.
We already know what Bijan is. He's one of the best assets in fantasy football, full stop.
But Hampton is the guy to watch here. I think he's about to shock some people this season, and if I'm right, Julian could be sitting on two legitimate hero RBs. (I do love the Chargers offense… Hampton and Ladd are about to eat)
Usually, when somebody invests that heavily at RB, you look around the rest of the roster and find the holes, but not here.
He still managed to grab TLaw and Tyler Shough, put together a really nice WR room with Rice, Higgins, and Wilson, AND took a great upside swing at TE with Brenton Strange. Yes I see the TLaw/Strange sneaky stack… you son of a bitch.
And somehow, after doing all of that, he still has all of his future picks.
I hate to say it, but Julian is the clear favorite for me heading into Season 1.
Which, of course, means he now has absolutely everything to lose.
Congratulations, Julian, I've officially placed the target on your back. If this team starts 1–4, I want everyone to remember that I had absolutely nothing to do with it.
And if he doesn't win the chip?
Well...I'm sure we'll be very understanding about it.
AND THERE WE HAVE IT, FELLAS.
The first-ever Breakfast of Champions Preseason Power Rankings are officially in the books.
Like I said at the beginning, these rankings are mostly for fun. Everybody's roster is relatively close in value right now, everybody took a different approach to the draft, and I'm genuinely excited to see how all of this shakes out once we actually start playing games.
I'm also fully prepared to take the heat when somebody I ranked #12 (cough...Fred…cough) starts 5–0 and screenshots this write-up.
I'm planning on updating the Power Rankings every three weeks during the season, so the first in-season edition should be especially fun. We'll get to see who I was right about, who I whiffed on, who's already rebuilding, and who's panic-trading after an 0–3 start.
Until then...talk some shit. Defend your ranking or tell me why I'm an idiot.
Breakfast of Champions Season 1 starts now!!
