Week 1 Recap! FOOTBALL IS BACK
Week 1 is in the books!
This was an INSANE Week 1 of real-life football, which of course translates to an insane week of fantasy as well. This week tied the highest-scoring Week 1 in NFL history, with 791 points scored across the league.
Specifically, the Panthers/Bears game broke the NFL record for the highest-scoring Week 1 game, with the Bears grinding out a big 59-37 victory.
All those points… and Colston Loveland still had a big fat donut. Ben Johnson is either trolling, or someone told Colston I’m tanking and need him to score as little as possible. He may be my new Tank Commander.
For those of us paying attention, this game also produced our first Weekly Bonus winner! This week’s bonus was for the highest-scoring player left on the bench, and Spencer takes home the prize after benching Bryce Young right before he went on to drop 35 points. (You can find these bonuses in the weekly bonus page)
Never doubt Bryce Young again I guess. Or if you do, at least make sure you can make some money off him. Congrats to Tiny Meat Gang on the $10 this week. Put that towards the PS5 fund.
As for the Survivor Pool, congratulations to everyone who knows I’m tanking this season, because I have officially been eliminated after putting up a puny 84 points. You’re welcome, but my vengeance is coming. Remember: the last team standing in Survivor takes home $50 at the end of the season!
Let me give a shoutout to Fred for putting up the most points in the league this week. He is already doing his best to make my preseason Power Rankings look stupid. Honestly, basically every matchup was close this week. You guys scored a shit ton of points across the board, and it made for a really fun Week 1.
Although,
Drake “Drake Maye” Maye is officially on fraud watch.
TRADES OF THE WEEK
There was only one trade this week, and of course it involved me.
I sent Skattebo, Daniel Jones, and LaPorta to Jake for Tyler Warren, Ty Simpson, and a 2027 2nd.
Some of you had some words for this one, but I think it was a really solid trade for both sides, so I won’t dissect it too much here. As this league progresses, you guys are going to learn that I am an absolute fiend when it comes to looking for trades, so get used to me spamming your inboxes.
My name is Hank, and I am a trade addict.
I highly encourage everyone to get active on the market. Trading is one of the things that makes dynasty so much fun and separates it from redraft. Your dynasty team is basically a stock portfolio. This season is only one year of many, and you’re constantly deciding whether to buy, sell, hold, compete now, or build for later. Hopefully we start seeing some deals as these first few weeks heat up.
NOTABLE BULLETS
Julian defends his preseason #1 ranking with a Week 1 win over Vance.
Nate takes a tough loss to Fred, scoring the most points of any losing team this week.
Nick was the only team besides my sorry ass that failed to break 100 points.
Despite losing Sammy D, Cam’s team went nuclear and is already making me reconsider my preseason ranking.
Shoutout Caleb Williams, who Drake Maye wishes he was.
Thanks to everyone who actually read this!
See you next week.
