WEEK 2 RECAP

Two weeks down in the NFL season already! Time flies when you’re having fun…

It also flies when you’re 0-2 and don’t have a healthy QB on your roster. Yikes.

Even after just two weeks, we’re already starting to see some teams shape up to be serious contenders, and some shaping up to be the opposite.

Injuries are absolutely killing us this season. Every year it seems like there are more injuries than normal, but this season it REALLY feels like we’re getting hit harder than usual. Just this week, we lost an insane amount of talent: Caleb, Dart, JD5, Nabers, Saquon, Mike Evans, Alec Pierce, Jayden Reed, Dallas Goedert, DJ Moore… did I forget anyone?

Although it looks like Caleb did his best Paul Pierce impersonation (shoutout Cam for that joke) and is actually going to be fine. But seriously, what is going on? I can’t remember this many second-string QBs starting in September in a long time. Maybe it’s recency bias. But bias or not, our teams are getting obliterated.

With all that said, let’s take a look at some of the scores around the league this week!

While Week 1 was an insanely high-scoring week across the league, Week 2 was the complete opposite… except one team.

GRAHAM WTF

Let’s start with the highest-scoring matchup of the week: Cam (Sandy Nic) vs. Graham.

Shoutout to Cam for winning this week’s Weekly Bonus: “Match-up Blues” for being the team that scored the most points and still lost. Put that $10 somewhere safe! Nothing to be ashamed of, 158 points is really good. You just happened to run into a juggernaut of a week.

Graham’s team scored the most points I think I have ever seen in fantasy football, and that was WITH a couple stinkers from Carnell Tate and Goedert. 206 points??

40 from JSN. (Drew “Drew Lock” Lock)
40 from Davante.
30 from JT.
20 from JAKE FERGUSON (???)

You stacked Matt Stafford with Davante, the uncs turned back the clock. Derrick Henry scored 18, which is still a very good week, and somehow he looks puny compared to those other scores. Jesus Christ, Graham! And with that, Graham is now 2-0 and has the highest PF in the league.

He is well on his way to making my preseason ranking of him at #10 look INCREDIBLY stupid. We are going to be looking at some big shifts in next week’s Power Rankings update.

THE BATTLE OF THE TANKS

In complete opposite fashion, Nick and my matchup was less of a football game and more like two shitty WWII tanks getting into a battle in the middle of Europe.

Neither tank can hit the other. Both are barely operational, there’s smoke everywhere, nobody knows what the fuck is going on. Our combined score (74 to 90) still doesn’t sniff Graham’s total. God damn, we suck!

Nick decided to start RJ Harvey over Jonah Coleman this week, even though RJ was ruled out before the game, which was an interesting tactical decision to say the least. But you can’t out tank the Tank Commander, Nick.

Unfortunately, our battle attracted a third combatant. Vance came rolling in with some sort of mini-tank, put up 75 points, and got eliminated from our Survivor competition. We basically recreated the Battle of Kursk, except nobody involved was competent enough to win. (Yes Nick, I had to lookup a WW2 battle for you...hope you enjoyed this)

But truly, Vance had a rough week. Lost his franchise QB, his star rookie RB might be out, Jayden Reed got carted off the field (scary), and his best two WR’s are from the Panthers which is never a great sign… (kidding, I actually love Tmac and Coker). Sources say it may have even been enough of a morale dent to thrust him firm into race to the bottom. Vance might be making some phone calls… could some of his productive vets be on the move? Something to monitor….

12 teams remain for that $50!

I also can’t believe Deshaun Watson outscored both Justin Herbert and Drake Maye COMBINED this week…In the big 26??? I don’t like this timeline!

Sorry Nate, but until Maye proves me otherwise, he WILL be a part of every weekly recap.

I can’t cover every matchup every week, but next week’s Power Rankings update will go much more in depth on every team and how they’ve performed through the first three weeks.

TRADES OF THE WEEK

There were two trades this week, and shocking absolutely nobody, both involved me.

The first was between myself and Nate, with me acquiring Javonte Williams and a 2027 1st for Tyler Warren and a 2028 3rd.

This one riled some of you up, but honestly, I thought it made sense for both sides. I get an RB and draft capital. Nate gets an elite TE. Win-win.

I immediately followed that one up by spamming Fred until we agreed on a deal for Jeanty. Jeanty was the player I wanted in the draft before Fred took him one pick before me. Now my dream of combining Jeanty and Love has finally come true. Next Gibbs/Bijan? Possibly.

The deal was KCC, Javonte, and Nate’s 2027 1st for Jeanty.

Again, I think this makes a lot of sense for both sides. Fred loves depth, and I know he was looking for more draft capital as well. Fred also expressed to me recently that he didn’t really want Jeanty anyway, so this was basically perfect for both of us.

QUICK HITS

  • Hank’s team does not have a healthy or starting QB on it. Bruh.

  • Only three undefeated teams remain: Julian, Coleman, and Graham.

  • Jacob takes his first W of the season despite losing Caleb.

  • Is Dalton Kincaid actually good now? Is Bryce Young actually good now? Spencer must have had a crystal ball drafting both of them.

  • 206 points from Graham is a league record that I have a feeling is going to stand for a LONG time. Seriously insane.

That’s all for Week 2!

Apologies if this was mixed up to read. I’m hungover. I’ll see you next week for the Power Rankings update!
