WEEK 4 RECAP
4 weeks down fellas! That officially shoots us past the quarter mark of when playoffs start (Week 14 for anyone not paying attention), which is honestly crazy. This is flying by. After another exciting week of NFL football, it’s time for yet another weekly recap on the happenings around the league.
The Injury Bug Continues
Since the injury bug has been an unfortunately major theme this year, we’re going to start there, because this week was no different.
We had some major stars sustain injuries this week, including Lamar (ankle), Saquon (hamstring), Ja’Marr Chase (concussion), Jeremiyah Love (leg), Monangai (thumb), Rashee Rice (hamstring), Tee Higgins (abductor), and Ladd (foot).
Some of these were more serious than others, but seriously, it’s like a battle royale out here just seeing who can stay the healthiest as the season progresses. I know injuries are a part of the game, and I know I’ve already said this, but damn, it really seems worse this season.
Maybe it’s partly because I’m paying attention to everyone’s teams this year, but I really do think there’s some truth to it. I read a statistic that said this year has had the most missed games by starters since 2021, and while I’m too lazy to fact check that, I am inclined to believe it. Congratulations if you’re a team that has not sustained a major injury yet!
FRAUD WATCH? DRAKE MAYE IS ALIVE
Moving on to something positive, let’s give a shoutout off rip to Drake Maye.
Drake Maye has been suspect numero uno on our weekly Fraud Watch this season (for good reason). It had gotten so bad that social media basically started acting like he was literally working at Subway with all the meatball subs he was throwing. In the dynasty community, there has been A LOT of worry about him. I mean, this is a guy who in a lot of leagues was actually being valued and drafted ahead of Josh Allen this offseason, so the copium was high during Weeks 1–3.
Thankfully, though, he finally turned it around this week and had himself a nice game. Hopefully, this is the start of him turning his season around. At the end of the day, he’s a young QB in the NFL who, despite being an MVP candidate last season, is still going to go through rough stretches and have some growing pains. Hopefully, he’s on the up again!
Sandy Nic Keeps Rolling
Let’s take a look at some of the interesting matchups that went down this week, starting with Sandy Nic vs. The Age of Woody.
Sandy Nic scored 184 points this week, which led the league in scoring. I mentioned in the Power Rankings update how remarkable Sandy’s team has been so far, especially considering he does NOT have a 2nd QB and is flexing Aaron Jones in that spot. Shoutout to him, he’s been great.
This week’s win put Sandy at #3 in PF in the league, and he’s now sitting at a comfy 3-1 record.
I talked about how good K9 has been, but this week I need to shoutout Chuba Hubbard. Chuba has seriously stepped up this season after Brooks’ injury left him as essentially the only RB in Carolina. Honestly, shoutout to Carolina in general, they are clicking on all cylinders and all of their guys have been fantastic for fantasy this season. (Bryce Young has arrived.)
Chuba is currently ranked #8 among all RBs so far, and I actually think this could be sustainable for the year. On top of all that, Sandy forgot to take Justin Jefferson out of his lineup this week and still put up 184. Of course, it helps when CeeDee goes for 189/2… CeeDee had 17 catches! Sheesh.
Shoutout Cam!
WEEKLY BONUS: TINY MEAT GANG
Tiny Meat Gang was our Weekly Bonus winner AGAIN this week. He also won Week 1, so Spencer is officially becoming a bit of a Weekly Bonus merchant.
This week’s award was for being the lowest-scoring winning team, as he very narrowly scratched out a victory over Sean by 0.5 points. That also makes this the new league record for closest game!
That’s $20 back in Spencer’s pocket already this season, (and $10 into the PS5 fund).
Pretty rough outing for Sean here, as his team really needed a win. Saquon decided to blow his hammy on the first drive of the game, and Sean will now drop to 1-3 on the year. Time to make some decisions over there Bender!
MATCHUP OF THE WEEK: THE TITANS CLASH
We had a clash of the titans in Week 4, with our top two Power Ranked teams playing each other head-to-head. Julian must have taken my demotion personally, because he got the best of the #1 seed Graham.
That makes Julian the ONLY undefeated team left in the league at 4-0, and he now has sole control of the top seed.
I have to say, though, Graham fucked up by not taking Keenan Allen out of his lineup. C’mon man. He left a whole lot of points on his bench this week that could’ve kept him on top. And to make matters worse for Graham, he was also the LOWEST SCORING TEAM this week in our survivor competition, so Graham has now been eliminated! Man… that is rough. Highest scoring team in the league and potential favorite to win $50… now eliminated because you forgot to set your lineup. It pays to pay attention people!
The #1 team has officially fallen, and it only took one week. Graham, time to look for revenge again!
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO VARMS?
Lastly, in absolutely shocking fashion, our 2nd highest scoring team this week was Varms. What the hell happened over there? Well, I’ll tell you.
TMac dropped 40.
B. Robinson had three touchdowns. Not Bijan. BRIAN. (huh??)
And Jameis Winston was actually pretty damn good! Vance’s team has suffered some injuries and doesn’t have the strongest starting lineup, but damn, his team went off this week. Maybe there’s some life in Rippin Darts after all?
Quick Hits
Fred stays winning off the back of Kirk Cousins. We’ll see how sustainable that is!
Nick gets an upset win over Nate, and now they’re both 2-2. Gaye for Maye loses because Maye has a good game… poetic, truly.
Sleeper gave me the “Best Manager” award this week for scoring 79.9 out of 80 possible points. Feels like some sort of bit.
Coleman took a bad loss this week having to face Sandy. Scored the highest points in a loss. Brutal.
Trades
No trades??? C’mon guys!
I took a break from pickmaxxing to give the market a chance to catch up and nobody has stepped on it. Better get on it before I get impatient and start farming deals again!
That’ll do it for this week! As always, thanks for reading, and I’ll see y’all next weekend.
